The new version 1.2.3 of IndexReloaded has been online since February 21. The new features concern – like almost all new features of version 1.2 – the area of compatibility with page cache plugins.
IndexReloaded supports 17 page cache plugins – these are the most frequently used page cache plugins in WordPress.
Why does IndexReloaded itself have no page cache functionality?
Many websites already use a page cache plugin. These page cache plugins would have to be deactivated by our users, which is something to be avoided. For the same reason, IndexReloaded does not offer image optimization – there are other plugins that implement this aspect of website optimization.
IndexReloaded focuses on concatenating JavaScript and CSS and creating correct Critical CSS.
Page optimization – 4 essential plugins
To make WordPress pages really fast, I recommend the following setup:
- Redis Object Cache
The persistent object cache uses the server’s RAM to cache WordPress objects. - Page cache plugin such as “WP Fastest Cache” or “W3 Total Cache”.
Page cache can often hardly be used on extremely dynamic websites, but should definitely be used on sites with more static content. - IndexReloaded
Optimizes the server response and page load time in the web browser. - Image optimizers such as “Converter for Media”
Reduces the file size of images and uses modern image formats.
The good thing is that the plugins are all available in free versions. This allows you to achieve over 90% of the possible page optimisation.
If you want to achieve 100% by using licensed versions, the costs are less than EUR 100 per year.
